I answer from the point of view of science: nowadays it is impossible to get rid of stretch marks completely, but it is possible to make them significantly less visible.
Why do stretch marks appear?
Stretch marks are scarring on the skin caused by the dermal layer tearing. They result from excessive dermal stretchings after rapid weight loss/gain, pregnancy, or pubertal growth spurts.
Stretch marks first appear as reddish or purple lines but gradually fade to a lighter flesh-toned color. The affected areas appear empty and soft to the touch.
Stretch marks occur within the middle layer of the skin, known as the dermal layer, which helps the skin retain its shape.
Imagine stretch marks as deep caves. They reach the middle and deep layer of the skin. Damaged collagen covers both sides of them. Cells that produce new collagen and elastin surround these caves. But the number of these cells is much less compared with areas of skin without scars or stretch marks.
How to get rid of stretch marks?
Stretch marks are areas of the skin with damaged collagen( like scars). When we grow the collagen around the stretch marks, we close the stretch marks from both sides. As a result, they are becoming much less noticeable.
