BOTOX

Discover the Power of Wrinkle-Reducing Formula at MedVSPA

What Is Botox?

Botox is a cosmetic treatment that can help look younger, reducing wrinkles, crow's feet, and jowls and reversing aging. Most face wrinkles are related to increasing age muscle tone, especially forehead lines, under eye wrinkles, and lip lines. In addition, skin loses elastisity with the aging process, and when the muscles squeeze, more and more face wrinkles appear. Many people turn to quick fixes like Botox injections to smooth out their skin. At the same time, Botox can be effective but has potential risks and side effects.

The Ultimate Guide to Botox

Get Rid of Saggy Skin, Face Wrinkles, and Fine Lines with BOTOX at MedVSPA

1.  What Exactly Does Botox do?

Botox injections help with facial wrinkles, fine lines, crow's feet, saggy jowls, and frown lines by temporarily stopping the chemicals that cause muscle contractions. They can also help with some health problems like sweating or depression. Botox injections are safe and can help you look younger.

2. How Long Does Botox Usually Last?

Allergan, the manufacturer of Botox, states that the effects of a younger-looking face from the treatment can last up to three months. The longevity of results is dependent on the dosage of the product used. For instance, injecting 20 units into four points on the forehead, with five units in each, will last longer than injecting only six units. MedVSPA has been using Full Face Botox since 2018, which requires approximately 70 units and can last for 4-5 months. The forehead area typically regains activity faster than the jawline, also known as Chin Botox, Jawline Botox, or Platysma Botox, which can take longer.

3. What is the Side Effect of Botox?

Based on my experience of over 20 years of receiving Botox injections, I have found that the most common side effects are bruises and pain.
After injections, it is common to see bumps on the forehead and around the eyes. These bumps result from the superficial injections required for the muscles under the skin in these areas. However, these bumps typically disappear within 30 minutes. Bruises can appear in any space with vessels, and menopausal individuals may be at a higher risk. In particular, I have noticed bruises in the jowl area when receiving Nefertiti Botox and in the corners of the eyes when receiving "open Eye" Botox. Pain is unavoidable due to the PH of the neuroprotein used in the injections.

4. How Much is Botox in Toronto?

The average cost of FullFace Botox is approximately CAN$800. Botox is a popular treatment globally, although it can be expensive. The manufacturer, Allergan, has conducted numerous studies confirming its safety and effectiveness. In Toronto, Botox ranges from $11 to $17 per unit. At MedVSPA, Full Face Botox is offered, which typically requires 60-70 units and includes:

  • Forehead Botox
  • Crow's feet Botox
  • Jawline Botox
  • Chin Botox
  • Platysma Botox

5. Can You Stop Botox Once You Start?

It is safe to stop using Botox as it won't have any harmful or negative effects on your body. While your muscles may not be as relaxed as before, you will still have complete mobility in the treated area. Even if you have used Botox injections for a long time, after a period of five years, you will notice the lines on your forehead when you frown. However, you will still be able to frown, albeit not as vigorously as before. Over time, your muscles will gradually lose the ability to move in the same range of motion as they could before the Botox injections.

6. What is the Best Age to Start Getting Botox?

To receive Botox treatment, patients must be 18 or older. Generally, experts recommend that individuals in their mid-late 20s and early 30s prone to wrinkles are good candidates for preventative Botox treatment. For example, my son began receiving Botox at age 28 to address long and deep forehead lines, and he continues to receive treatments three times per year at age 34. Similarly, my daughter-in-law benefits from Chin Botox to prevent aggressive movements while talking and maintain a smooth chin and jawline.

7. Do You Have to Keep Doing Botox Forever?

Is it necessary to constantly receive Botox injections once you start? Unfortunately, yes. Botox is not a permanent solution, and the effect of a single treatment typically lasts around three to four months. In rare cases, the results may last up to six months. Botox is a preventative treatment that can be used at any age. By relaxing muscles, Botox can prevent fat loss in certain areas, such as under the eyes or Chin. Regular Botox injections like Botox brow lift, Chin Botox,  Nefertiti Lift, and Full Face Botox every 4-5 months can help you achieve a more youthful appearance and prevent signs of aging.

8. Does Botox Have Long-Term Negative Effects?

When used correctly, botulinum toxin rarely causes complications. Cosmetic botulinum toxin treatments do not have any long-term or life-threatening adverse effects. Marina Vashkevich, a cosmetic nurse administering Botox injections for over 20 years, says:" I have noticed that people often experience forehead discomfort due to a permanent hyper tone of the forehead muscle that occurs with aging and helps keep the eyes open. However, this discomfort typically disappears on its own within two weeks, or our team at MedVSPA can help alleviate it immediately using a particular technology".

9. What Happens when You Stop Using Botox?

If you discontinue Botox treatments after years of regular injections, the only noticeable change will be the return of your wrinkles. However, you may experience some limitations in your range of motion, as if you forgot how to use those muscles effectively. It's a fact that even after stopping Botox, you will still appear younger than if you had never received the treatment

10. Who Shouldn't Get Botox?

Please note that Botox may not be suitable for everyone. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a neurological condition, it is recommended that you avoid it. It is also advisable to consult with a doctor before undergoing Botox treatment to ensure that it will effectively address your wrinkles. And if you are allergic to anything, you must inform your injector when signing Botox injection consent.

11. Can you Tell if Someone Had Botox?

Many people fear having a plastic or unnatural look after getting Botox injections. If someone's face appears smooth and shiny without wrinkles, they likely have forehead Botox. However, the current trend with Botox is quite the opposite. Instead of removing wrinkles, we relax the muscles that cause them, known as depressors. This approach can change a negative facial expression, such as looking angry or sad, into a more positive one by making it harder to frown or contract those muscles aggressively. This modern approach is called Full Face Botox, which involves relaxing all muscle depressors, including those in the forehead, crow's feet, Chin, nose, and Platysma.

12. Does Botox Really Make You Look Younger?

If you're looking for a quick way to appear younger, consider Botox and filler injections. These treatments can temporarily reduce signs of aging, such as wrinkles, fine lines, jowls, crow's feet, and nasolabial folds. By relaxing facial muscles and filling areas of lost volume, these anti-aging agents can make a noticeable difference in your appearance when you feel confident and look younger.

13. How Does Your Face Look after Botox?

Botox typically begins to take effect after four days and reaches its maximum effectiveness within three weeks. Full Face Botox treatment involves injecting a small amount of neuro protein into specific muscles, such as the depressors in the forehead, Crow's feet, Chin, and Platysma.

Injections called:

  • Forehead Botox
  • Crow's feet Botox
  • Chin Botox
  • Platysma Botox

This can result in a lifted appearance, including cheekbones, a smoother jawline, and more open eyes. The three weeks result is a refreshed and younger-looking version of yourself.

14. Is Filler or Botox Better for Crows Feet?

It's important to note that Botox and dermal filler work differently. Botox works by relaxing the muscles, while fillers are used to restore volume and improve skin quality. As you age, your muscles become more active while your bones, fat, and skin thickness decrease. Botox reduces muscle strength, and dermal fillers increase skin thickness. A filler is an excellent option to restore volume under the eyes or in the temple area. On the other hand, if you're going to smoothen dynamic wrinkles like crows feet or lift your eyebrows, Botox is more effective. Combining Botox and dermal filler could help if you want to appear younger. It helps reduce eye wrinkles and fine lines and slow aging.

15. At What Age Do Crow's Feet Appear?

The aging type and home care routine influence the appearance of crow's feet. Generally, they start to develop between the ages of twenty and thirty.

From the Expert: To prevent eye wrinkles, it's important to incorporate certain ingredients into your eye home care routine:

  • peptides for under-eye skin hydration
  • substances, stimulating lymphatic drainage
  • peptides, stimulating collagen

16. Do Under Eye Wrinkles Get Worse Afte Crows Feet Botox?

When you get Botox or Dysport injections around your eyes, the goal is to reduce wrinkles and fine lines that appear when you smile. It is achieved by temporarily paralyzing the muscle that causes those lines. As a result, your eye wrinkles will be less noticeable when your face is at rest, and your skin will look smoother when you smile.

17. Does Crows Feet Botox Cause Bunny Lines?

Injecting too much Botox into the crows feet area can cause unwanted effects. If the amount of Botox is excessive, it may indirectly target muscles near the nose and create bunny lines and fine lines close to the inner corner of the eyes.

From the Expert: As we age, the muscle responsible for crows feet becomes hyper-toned and skin thinner, and its position moves closer to the skin due to fat and skin thickness changes. Choose an experienced esthetic injector to avoid such Botox crows feet unwanted effects.

18. Why Can't You Sleep After Botox?

It's important not to lie down for the first 4 hours after receiving Botox injections. This is because lying down could cause the toxin to spread to unintended areas. Botox requires a small dosage, precise injections, and slow injection speed. Skilled injectors know that injecting Botox closer to the muscle attachment point requires a smaller amount of the substance to produce the desired effect

19. Why are My Eyebrows so High After Botox?

The position of one's eyebrows can indicate either youthfulness or aging. Some millennials opt for Botox injections to achieve a higher eyebrow and a more open look, specifically with Crow's Feet and Forehead Botox. Conversely, some young people prefer straight, lowered eyebrows in line with current fashion trends.
For menopausal women, excessively high eyebrows can actually make them look older due to the hyper-tone eye lift created by forehead muscles, which is a sign of aging. Therefore, menopausal women need to lift their eyebrows reasonably high to create an open look without impeding their natural facial expressions.

20. Can Drink Coffee After Botox?

If you're interested in looking natural and younger after Botox injections, Full Face Botox treatment could be just what you need! This treatment involves injecting a small amount of neuroprotein into specific muscle- depressors, like the ones that cause Crow's feet, forehead wrinkles, jowls, and sagging neck muscles. These injections are also known as Forehead Botox, Crow's Feet Botox, Chin Botox, and Platysma Botox. By targeting these areas, you can expect to look more refreshed and natural, with lifted cheekbones, a smoother jawline, and eyes that look more open. It usually takes about three weeks to see the full results. Give it a try and catch a more radiant version of yourself!

21. What to Expect When You Get Your First Botox?

There is no scientific evidence that suggests restricting coffee consumption after receiving Botox injections. However, minor bruises could be the only potential obstacle to visiting your favorite coffee shop after Botox treatment. These bruises are typically tiny, about a quarter of the size of your little finger. Menopausal women may expect bruises after receiving Nefertiti lift, Platysma Botox, or Neck Botox. Additionally, the Korean "open eye" Botox technique may sometimes leave tears in the corners of the eyes. The most unwanted bruises appear on the nose after Nose Botox injections. This procedure is intended to slim the nose and avoid the need for surgery.

What Does MedVSPA Clinical Esthetician Do?

A MedVSPA clinical esthetician has the knowledge and experience to assess, treat, educate, and prescribe home care to achieve the maximum result with the minimum treatments possible.

An assessment starts with evaluating your aging type, with questions about your aging concerns, health-related history, and menstrual or menopausal history. A physical assessment involves looking at your tissue (skin, problems, skin discoloration, big pores, skin tone) and structural aging (hooded eyelids, nasolabial fold, marionette lines, glabella lines) as well as your home care assessment. The total assessment includes the history of your previous beauty treatments:

  • Which made you look younger?
  • How soon you saw the result?
  • How long the effect lasted?

Then from the assessment, your clinical esthetician will determine a plan on how to address your concerns. This may include microneedling and mesotherapy in one treatment, individual home care to make you look younger than your age, and a maintenance treatment plan. Your clinical esthetician will write the individual treatment plan for each visit to reach your goal of looking younger and more confident.
