HArmonyCa Toronto for Facial Lifting

HArmonyCa is a hybrid injectable that combines hyaluronic acid (HA) with calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) to provide an immediate corrective effect and progressive collagen stimulation.

The HA component provides immediate volume and support, while CaHA microspheres stimulate new collagen formation over time. Unlike traditional HA fillers used primarily to replace lost volume, HArmonyCa is particularly useful when facial support, laxity and tissue quality are important treatment objectives.

HArmonyCa can improve facial laxity, jowls and loss of jawline definition when adding more facial volume is not the main goal.

• Jowls: improves support of descending lower-face tissues.

• Facial laxity: provides a lifting effect for mild-to-moderate laxity.

Good candidates for HArmonyCa are determined by facial anatomy and treatment goals rather than age alone. It may be considered for:

• Younger patients with a short jawline: when greater definition or visual elongation is desired without substantially increasing facial volume.
• Naturally fuller faces: when adding traditional filler could make the face appear heavier.
• Previously treated faces: when sufficient filler volume is already present but additional support may improve the overall result.
• Mature patients: when age-related tissue descent has become more noticeable without severe facial deflation.

HArmonyCa and traditional dermal fillers solve different structural problems: one primarily supports and lifts tissues, while the other can replace volume that has been lost.

When HArmonyCa May Be Considered First

When the face does not require substantial volume replacement, HArmonyCa may be considered to improve support and contour without building additional facial volume.

When Dermal Filler May Be Needed First

When aging or significant weight loss has created a true structural deficit, filler may be needed to rebuild missing volume—particularly in the midface, lateral lower face, jaw angle, or chin.

When Both May Be Needed

When volume loss and tissue descent occur together, the treatments can have different roles within the same plan: dermal filler restores missing structure, while HArmonyCa provides additional support and progressive biostimulation.

Mature and weight-loss faces can have complex changes in bone support, fat compartments, tissue position and skin quality, making treatment more complex than simply lifting or filling the face.

• Menopausal facial changes: Loss and downward repositioning of facial fat can create deep hollows, jowls and reduced support around the jaw angle. When structural volume is missing, deeply placed jawline filler may be used to rebuild the foundation before HArmonyCa is considered.
• Significant weight loss or an “Ozempic face” appearance: Facial deflation may involve both the lateral face and midface. In these patients, replacing missing volume can be important because HArmonyCa alone cannot recreate all of the volume that has been lost.
• Previously treated faces: Patients who already have filler may still develop small areas of age-related imbalance. A deep cheek or under-eye hollow may need targeted filler, while HArmonyCa can address the broader pattern of facial support rather than repeatedly filling individual lines and folds.

HArmonyCa and SkinVive can both support collagen production, but they work differently and have different treatment goals.

• HArmonyCa — support and lift: works at a deeper level to improve facial support and contour while stimulating collagen over time.
• SkinVive — skin quality: works within the skin to improve hydration, smoothness and light reflection while supporting fibroblast activity and collagen production.
• Different treatment areas: HArmonyCa is used in selected structural areas, while SkinVive can improve skin quality across more areas of the face.
• Better together: HArmonyCa addresses deeper support while SkinVive improves the overlying skin, so one does not replace the other.

For mature and menopausal faces, combining them can address both deeper facial support and the quality of the skin itself.

HArmonyCa and RF microneedling are complementary because RF microneedling can treat skin concerns and facial areas that are not appropriate targets for HArmonyCa injections.

• HArmonyCa — structural support: is used in selected facial areas to improve support and contour while stimulating collagen over time.
• RF microneedling — broader skin treatment: can address areas such as the forehead, around the eyes, nose and neck, where the treatment goal may be skin tightening, texture or enlarged pores rather than added structural support.
• Different effects on the skin: RF microneedling stimulates collagen and elastin remodeling and can also target vascular components of the skin; HArmonyCa does not serve this purpose.
• Combined approach: HArmonyCa can address deeper facial support while RF microneedling addresses skin firmness, texture, pores and other surface-level concerns.

HArmonyCa results develop in two stages: an immediate lifting effect from hyaluronic acid, followed by progressive changes as CaHA stimulates collagen production.

• Immediately after treatment: the HA component provides visible support and lift, although early swelling can temporarily influence how the result looks.
• Over the following months: collagen stimulation gradually contributes to greater tissue firmness and support. Clinical measurements have shown changes in tissue firmness by 60–90 days and increased collagen in treated areas at 180 days.
• Around six months: the result may look better than it did immediately after treatment. A small clinical series found greater aesthetic improvement at six months than immediately after treatment, consistent with the later biostimulatory effect.
• Results are gradual: HArmonyCa should not be judged only by the immediate post-treatment appearance because part of its effect develops progressively.

HArmonyCa is generally well tolerated, with most post-treatment reactions being temporary and related to the injections.

• Common reactions: mild swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising may occur and usually settle gradually.
• Recovery: most patients can return to their usual activities soon after treatment.
• Less common reactions: prolonged swelling, firmness or nodules can occur and should be assessed if they develop.
• Follow-up: unusual pain, skin colour changes or other unexpected symptoms should be reported promptly.
