Sagging Skin, Nasolabial Folds, Wrinkles

How Does Your Face Age?

As we grow older, we experience the processes of tissue and structural aging which are responsible for the appearance of sagging skin, wrinkles and nasolabial folds.
Conditions like dark spots, big pores, and dull skin tone are all signs of tissue aging. The appearance of folds and deep wrinkles is related to structural aging on the levels of bone-fat-muscles (Le Louarn, 2007).

People lose fat in the deep layers of the skin with aging as well. However, some fat appears in the surface of the face, creating deep folds. For example, this fat appears as bags under the eyes, the malar mold (areas under the lower eyelid), nasolabial folds, jowls, and a double chin. Repeated facial muscle movements cause expelling of the gat and the appearance of hollows within the face.

Muscles change, as well. Le Louarn thinks that muscles involved in facial expressions are becoming shorter with age, increasing their tone and losing their curvature. Muscles on young faces are convex-shaped and long while the face is relaxed. However, with age, they change shape, becoming rectilinear; the length becomes shorter upon contraction as well.

With age, skin gets covered by many shallow wrinkles caused by changes in the collagen structure. Collagen is the structural support of the skin. It consists of spirals. External factors like sun, sugar consumption, and age make it limp with the appearance of collagen-spiral cross- links. When cross-linked collagen is not able to play its supportive role in the skin structure, we see the changes as wrinkles and skin sagginess.

One more factor is sun. The sun’s ultraviolet rays force the process of aging. That is why representatives of light skin types show the signs of aging faster, compared with other ethnic groups.

MedVSPA successfully addresses concerns such as sagging skin and nasolabial folds. A combination of technologies and/or injections gives an immediate result for any age group. The fastest result appears when the treatment is planned according to your exact aging process.
